With a simple two-positon, two port valve (symbol shown at right) - the valve will either be open or closed. This is pilot operated 5 way, 2 position solenoid. It works just fine, took a little testing to figure out how to wire it up. I'd recommend at least a single note of documentation pertaining to how to properly connect everything, but even without this and with zero previous experience working with products like this, I managed it figure it out and have it up and running pretty quickly.
